about WATE

WATE Community and Cultural Development Services was created in October of 2003 as a non-profit organization to raise funds to support the establishment of a cultural heritage centre wherein programs and services would be offered to members of Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and off-reserve Aboriginal peoples. WATE received charitable status with Revenue Canada in November of 2006 and began the process of working to toward that mandate as a registered charity.

The programs and services to be offered in the cultural heritage centre and on lands and waterscapes in Algonquin traditional territory include the following:

  • Cultural, artistic, social, and recreational programs;
  • Educational programs and community activities which foster leadership skills;
  • Scholarships and bursaries and awards for post-secondary education for members of the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation;
  • Literacy and high school equivalency instruction;
  • Health, counselling, and support services to elders, women, men, youth, and children that reflects Anishinaabe culture and traditions;
  • Food and other basic necessities to community members in need.

All web browsers allow the user control over text size. In Explorer you can use the  keyboard command Command/Shift/= to increase text size and Command/Shift/- to decrease text size. These commands can also be  found in the  Edit or View menu. On  a Mac, the command can be  found as a font symbol in the  toolbar of the browser window.

WATE Community and Cultural development Services makes use of Question Pro's survey software. Question Pro's non-profit waiver program allows non-profit organizations to use the program at no cost.
